The research group “Towards a Culture of Care” at the Congress on Laudato si’ in Salamanca

On April 14, the research group Towards a Culture of Care from Santa Croce participated in the international conference Human Ecology. Dwelling as Care for the Environment and Relationships, hosted by the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Laudato si' by Pope Francis.
The initiative brought together academics and scholars to reflect on the relationship between the environment, human relationships, and ethical responsibility. In this context, the contribution of the Towards a Culture of Care group, led by Principal Investigator Fr. Prof. Francesco Russo, emphasized the need to promote a culture of care as an integral response to contemporary crises.
In his address, the Rector of the Spanish university, Santiago García-Jalón de la Lama, stressed that “dwelling” means safeguarding creation and relationships, while the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Román Ángel Pardo, highlighted the value of integral ecology as a key interpretative framework of the Church’s social teaching.
The Congress is rooted in the vision of Laudato si’, promoting an understanding of ecology centered on human dignity and on the urgency of renewed cultural and scientific commitment.
The research group Towards a Culture of Care is part of the Santa Croce Research Laboratory and aims to respond to the anthropological crisis by rebuilding a culture of care, understood as the profound vocation of the human person: the care of the human being and their flourishing in the various dimensions of existence (such as relationships, the environment, the common good, artistic heritage, and the sacred).
