On February 15, the Permanent Seminar of the International Higher School for Interdisciplinary Research (SISRI) took place, with Professor Giovanni Corazza from the University of Bologna as a guest. The theme of the SISRI Permanent Seminar this academic year is "The Faces of Creativity. Human Specificity in the Scientific Context," linked with the Research Project A Cross-Disciplinary Inquiry into Human Creativity.
During his lecture, which focused on how AI interacts with human creativity, the professor stated, "The ethical issue is now fundamental (in the context of AI). We can no longer afford to move forward doing everything that is possible. We must choose, and then, we cannot allow artificial intelligence to flatten or even overwhelm the dignity of the individual."
According to the professor, "Even the decision not to use artificial intelligence is an ethical choice. Because if it is true that the future world will rely on this technology so significantly, banning it becomes a choice with consequences that can be very negative."
A Cross-Disciplinary Inquiry into Human Creativity is one of the research projects of the Santa Croce Research Laboratory, aimed at contributing to a comprehensive and interdisciplinary theory of human creativity, relevant to the natural, human, philosophical, and theological sciences. The research group’s objective is to demonstrate how creativity is an essential characteristic of the human being.
